Johnson to Introduce Armed Forces Self-Defense Act

Washington – Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, will introduce legislation calling for the termination of regulations that prohibit members of the Armed Forces from carrying certain firearms on military installations. Johnson made these comments regarding his initiative:

“By disarming the Armed Forces, gun-free policies at military facilities have made our men and women in uniform easy targets for terrorist attacks.  Yesterday’s shootings in Chattanooga that claimed the lives of four brave Marines, including Sgt. Carson Holmquist from Grantsburg, Wisconsin, follow similar deadly attacks at Washington, D.C.’s Navy Yard and Fort Hood, Texas. My deepest condolences go out to all of the families and friends of these fallen soldiers.

“I will be introducing legislation, the Armed Forces Self-Defense Act, to better protect our military personnel.”
