Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) announced that he is an original cosponsor of legislation introduced today to repeal Obamacare. The bill is cosponsored by 31 Senators. Johnson said:

“The House of Representatives has overwhelmingly voted to repeal Obamacare. The Senate has an obligation to vote on a straightforward repeal bill as well, so the American people can see who opposes this destructive legislation, and who supports it. I hope that Senator Reid will schedule this important bill for a vote soon.”

“I truly do believe that the passing of Obamacare is the single greatest assault on our freedom in my lifetime. It will lead to rationed care, lower the quality of care, increase medical costs and severely limit medical innovation.  Just as troubling, this law will add trillions of dollars to our nation’s debt and deficit over the next couple of decades. We are already bankrupting our nation. We simply cannot afford Obamacare. It must be repealed.”

The legislation was introduced by Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC). Cosponsors include Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY), John Barrasso (R-WY), Roy Blunt (R-MO), John Boozman (R-AR), Richard Burr (R-NC), Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), Dan Coats (R-IN), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Bob Corker (R-TN), John Cornyn (R-TX), Mike Crapo (R-ID), John Ensign (R-NV), Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), James Inhofe (R-OK), Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Mike Johanns (R-NE), Jon Kyl (R-AZ), Mike Lee (R-UT), John McCain (R-AZ), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Rand Paul (R-KY), Rob Portman (R-OH), James Risch (R-ID), Pat Roberts (R-KS), Marco Rubio (R-FL), John Thune (R-SD), Pat Toomey (R-PA), David Vitter (R-LA), and Roger Wicker (R-MS).
