Johnson Comments on Keystone XL Pipeline Impact Study Results

Washington, D.C. – Senator Johnson made this statement about the State Department’s study:

“I am pleased to see that the State Department is confirming its earlier studies that show the Keystone XL Pipeline will not have a significant impact on the environment.

“I hope that at last President Obama will pay attention to the science after five years of dysfunction and delay. His failure to act has been a depressing example of how totally broken Washington is. Americans hungry for work could have benefitted long ago if the president had listened to the earlier findings, now confirmed, that building the pipeline won’t have a significant impact on the environment. He could have avoided needlessly irritating our closest neighbor. He could have helped Americans with lower energy prices and reduced dependence on oil from dangerous places far away.

“The president has no more reason to delay. He should approve the pipeline now.”
