Johnson Statement on Ukraine Relief Bill

Washington, D.C. – Sen. Johnson made the following comments today regarding his vote on the Ukraine relief bill.

“To counter Vladimir Putin's aggressive actions, it is crucial for America and the West to speak with a strong and united voice in support of Ukraine and its territorial integrity.  Today's bill offering Ukraine loan guarantees and authorizing sanctions against those responsible for Russian aggression was the right thing to do.  I appreciate Senate Democrats realizing my amendment that removed the divisive and extraneous International Monetary Fund (IMF) reforms from the bill was the wisest course of action.   Although I would have preferred an open amendment process that would have allowed us to improve the bill by strengthening sanctions, removing the IMF reforms helped ensure an almost unanimous vote.”
