Senator Ron Johnson Comments on GAO Findings on Government Duplication, Inefficiency

Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) today commented on the GAO’s release of a report entitled Opportunities to Reduce Potential Duplication in Government Programs, Save Tax Dollars, and Enhance Revenue:

“I applaud Senator Tom Coburn for working to enact legislation that makes this a requirement. It’s important that the federal government start looking at inefficiencies and duplicative programs. We are at a point in time when we are spending $1.65 trillion that we don’t have. We simply cannot afford inefficiencies and ineffective government. I hope to start enacting real reforms based on this report.”

The report is the first in an annual series, prepared pursuant to legislation advocated by Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK). The report is available at the GAO website.
