Nobody’s Safe: Raising Awareness of Heroin/Opioid Epidemic

Sen. Johnson & Oconomowoc mother Lauri Badura discuss the epidemic that took her 19-year-old sons life

MILWAUKEE — Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) released a new episode of his podcast, "Hey, Wisconsin," on Thursday featuring a discussion with Lauri Badura, whose son Archie died of a heroin overdose three years ago.  Badura runs an awareness organization called Saving Others For Archie (SOFA), which organized a “Jump for Life” community event  Sunday, May 21 in Oconomowoc.  The event featured training on the use of Narcan, which can reverse an opioid overdose. Dozens of people ended the event with a chilly jump into Lac La Belle to remember Archie. Sen. Johnson sat down with Badura immediately following the event.

Sen. Johnson’s podcast addresses a variety of issues – connecting what happens in Washington to Wisconsinites. The podcast is available to download and share here.
