Johnson Encourages President Trump to Rejoin TPP

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said the following after President Trump indicated he may be open to having the United States rejoin the Trans-Pacific Partnership:

“The countries of the Trans-Pacific Partnership are important allies of ours as China aggressively seeks to expand its influence. Joining the TPP would increase our leverage over China and give U.S. manufactured and agricultural products open access to a trading bloc equaling about 40 percent of world markets. I appreciate President Trump’s willingness to consider re-engaging in this important trade relationship.”
