OSHKOSH — Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said this about the news that Russia has released an Estonian Internal Security Police official its forces kidnapped more than a year ago:
“I am pleased, as I am sure all freedom-loving people are, to hear that Eston Kohver is back at home with his family. It is disturbing that Russia has tried portraying itself as an aggrieved party after kidnapping a foreign official from a neighboring country. We in the West must understand the abusive, aggressive nature of Vladimir Putin and his regime, or more incidents like this will occur.
“But for now, we can all note with pleasure that Mr. Kohver is free and back in Estonia.”
