Johnson Announces June Dairy Month Instagram Photo Contest

In honor of June Dairy Month, Senator Johnson has launched his second annual Instagram photo contest.  Wisconsinites are encouraged to take a picture of a dairy farm in their area and to share it on the senator’s Instagram account using the hashtag #AdventuresInDairyland. Read more here.

Around Wisconsin

Ron met a Gold Star Family at a listening session organized by UBS Financial Services in Madison. The senator was honored that the Dimock family shared a challenge coin with him in memory of their son Joey Dimock, an Army Ranger killed in Afghanistan in 2010.

The city of Delafield celebrated the long overdue recognition of Civil War hero and native son Lt. Alonzo Cushing as a Medal of Honor recipient. Senator Johnson was pleased to help get the Civil War hero's Medal of Honor designation passed through the U.S. Senate last year.

Ron's state staffers attended two big groundbreakings recently in Wisconsin. Aurora Health Care broke ground on a new comprehensive health center on the border of Racine and Walworth counties. It will have a cancer center, outpatient surgery and rehab services all under one roof.

Menasha Corop broke ground on a new global headquarters in Neenah, a project which will double the size of its existing space. Menasha Corp. has been part of the Fox Cities for 166 years and does $1.5 billion dollars a year in sales of the corrugated and plastic packaging that it manufactures.

Johnson Holds Hearing on Vacant Inspectors General Positions

Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) held a hearing on Wednesday to discuss the breakdown of the Obama administration’s nomination process for America’s top government watchdog positions. Read more here.

Johnson, Committee Discuss IRS Data Breach

Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) held a hearing Tuesday on the recent Internal Revenue Service (IRS) data breach that affected 100,000 American taxpayers, compromising their private information and raising serious concerns about the confidentiality of information supposedly being protected by federal agencies.
