WASHINGTON — “Convince me that what we are going through right now is not just a big charade, because I’m afraid that’s exactly what this is,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said on Thursday, speaking directly to Secretary of State John Kerry during the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing reviewing the administration’s nuclear agreement with Iran. Secretary Kerry did not provide a response. Johnson continued his questioning by voicing his frustration at the administration’s clear circumvention of Congress during the agreement process. “If you’re so confident this is such a great deal, why didn’t you allow this body, this Congress, the ability to at least affirmatively vote to approve this deal?” he asked. Watch the senator’s full questioning here.
