Johnson Comments on Passage of Every Student Succeeds Act

WASHINGTON — Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said this on Wednesday after voting in favor of adopting the conference report on the Every Student Succeeds Act, a bipartisan reform of the No Child Left Behind Act that authorizes federal K-12 education funding through fiscal year 2020:

“This bill is a strong bipartisan effort to devolve power away from Washington and toward states, communities, and the teachers and parents who are at the front line of education. Returning power to those closest to children will help educators perform their work more effectively and efficiently, and it gives students a better chance of success.  It is a prime example of achieving a successful result by concentrating on areas of agreement — an approach I fully support and practice."
