Johnson Statement on Independence Day

Washington, D.C. - Senator Ron Johnson (WI) made the following statement regarding the Independence Day holiday:

"Today the people of Wisconsin and the United States celebrate the anniversary of America's birth. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Independence Day.

"As we celebrate, we should remember those brave men and women - and their families - who sacrifice to protect our freedom. More than one million souls have given their lives in defense of our nation. The finest among us continue to risk life and limb to protect us every day. We cannot adequately express the depth of our gratitude.

"For 236 years the United States has been a beacon of hope and freedom for the entire world.  On this day, let us renew our dedication to preserving that legacy for future generations."
