Remote HSGAC Meeting

The Senate returned to Washington this week and the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee held a remote roundtable on COVID-19.

Members heard from doctors at UW-Madison, Stanford Universtiy and Johns Hopkins University about how new information about COVID-19 should inform policy.

Safely Reopening Wisconsin Businesses

I spoke with Green Bay's Fox 11 about reopening Wisconsin's economy. We will have to be innovative and figure out new ways to practice social distancing, but there are smart ways to reopen more Wisconsin businesses.

I would start with our healthcare system, then really take a look at businesses that are shut down that can maintain social distancing and operate safely.

Questions for USPS

Post OfficeI sent a letter to the Postmaster General to get clarity on the financial situation of USPS.

Despite recent media reports suggesting that the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically hurt USPS, the revenue data provided to my staff for the first five weeks of the crisis shows a different story. From March 16, 2020, through April 19, 2020, revenues for USPS were down 5.86 percent compared with similar dates last year. That was a far cry from the 30 percent that USPS had been publicly projecting.
