Sen. Johnson Votes No on Raising the Debt Limit

WASHINGTON — On Thursday U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) issued the following statement on voting no to raise the debt limit to support the Democrats’ reckless spending spree.

Washington spending is out of control. We are nearing $30 trillion in debt with Democrats wanting to add trillions more. They have no problem passing reckless tax-and-spend bills on a partisan basis, and they have the same capability to raise the debt ceiling. In early August, I drafted a letter that 46 Republican senators signed giving Democrats fair warning that they would not receive Republican help in raising the debt ceiling to accommodate their partisan deficit spending.  They are in control of the government and should be held accountable for their radical agenda that is causing inflation and driving up our national debt.”
