Sen. Johnson Votes Against Biden's Nominee for IRS Commissioner

WASHINGTON – On Thursday, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) issued the following statement after voting against Daniel Werfel to be Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

“While I appreciate Mr. Werfel’s dedication to public service and his commitment to improve operations at the IRS, I am highly concerned over the direction the Biden Administration has charted for the agency. My no vote is a reflection of those concerns and not of the nominee’s qualifications. I sincerely hope Mr. Werfel carries out his expressed dedication to the equal application of tax law and transparency if confirmed.”
