Aren’t you getting sick and tired of these government shutdowns?
Eliminate Shutdowns Act
This shutdown is being driven by Chuck Schumer and the radical left. It is shameful and completely hypocritical because Schumer knows full well he is playing partisan games with people’s lives.
If Schumer and the Democrats were serious about avoiding a shutdown, they would have supported the House-passed funding bill or backed my Eliminate Shutdowns Act.
There were two clear opportunities to keep the government open — Democrats rejected both.
As I said in my floor speech Monday night, this shutdown was completely avoidable.
My Eliminate Shutdowns Act would end the drama and uncertainty of Congress’s budgetary dysfunction. The bill ends government shutdowns by establishing two-week rolling continuing resolutions to fund the government if there is a lapse in appropriations.
Aren’t you getting sick and tired of these government shutdowns? The drama, the turmoil, the partisan bickering, and holding the American people hostage for demands of billions and billions of dollars for more spending we can’t afford?
The American people don’t like these shutdowns. They want them ended. We have a very simple bill, not partisan, that offers no advantage to anybody. It keeps the government open and gives appropriators time to do appropriating, appropriate those departments, and end all the chaos, all the turmoil, and all the games with people’s lives.

Charlie Kirk Remembrance Day
The Senate is honoring the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk by passing a resolution naming October 14 as a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie. October 14 would have been Charlie's 32nd birthday.
The passage of the Senate resolution honoring Charlie Kirk is a fitting tribute to a man who championed free speech and civil debate — core values of our Republic that he fought and died for.
We truly don’t appreciate what we’ve got until it’s gone. Charlie Kirk will be sorely missed, but his legacy will carry on.
I discussed Charlie's legacy on the Vicki McKenna Show the day after his assassination.
We also learned in the days since Charlie's murder about Operation Arctic Frost. A whistleblower provided information about lawfare against conservative groups, including Turning Point USA.
