Reality of the Big Beautiful Bill

I'm sounding the alarm. 

At a bare minimum, the “One Big Beautiful Bill” shouldn’t INCREASE the annual deficit. With the meager spending reductions being discussed, I’m afraid it actually will. We must return to a reasonable pre-pandemic level of spending. 

I ran in 2010 because we were mortgaging our children's future. 

If someone in your family had an illness, and you had to borrow $50,000 for medical bills, would you keep borrowing that amount of money every year even after the health crisis has passed? That is what America is doing. 

In 2019, America spent $4.4 trillion. Now we are up to $7 trillion. The "One Big Beautiful Bill" is a big complex bill that doesn't address our spending problem. 

We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reset spending that has been exploded by Democrats. What President Trump and Elon Musk did with DOGE is brilliant. They exposed all this waste, fraud, and abuse within the federal government. They've also exposed how oblivious we are to it. We need to codify their work.

Senate Investigations

As chairman of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, my team is working closely with Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley on multiple investigations. 

• Politically-Motivated Investigations into President Trump: We wrote a letter calling on the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to release all government records demonstrating the Biden administration’s role in advancing investigations into then-presidential candidate Donald Trump. 

 

• Demanding DOJ Records about J6 Human Sources:  We sent a letter to Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General (IG) Michael Horowitz highlighting the IG’s failure to respond to our previous requests about the government’s use of confidential human sources and undercover agents on January 6, 2021.

 

• FBI’s Handling of Hunter Biden’s Laptop:  We sent a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel demanding that the FBI provide internal communications and records relating to its handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop since the day they first possessed it on December 9, 2019.

 

COVID-19 Oversight 

 

My work on COVID oversight continues. 

I was glad to see the White House acknowledge the true origins of COVID-19, but now we need help for the COVID vaccine injured. 

I'm highly concerned about a top Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) official potentially mishandling official records. His actions, if true, would have directly obstructed my multi-year oversight efforts of the COVID-19 vaccines.

On May 2, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, the new director of the National Institutes of Health, the nation’s medical research agency, visited Milwaukee. His talk at the Medical College of Wisconsin, was his first college visit as NIH Director.

Softball season is underway for staffers in my Washington, D.C. office. This year we joined forces with staff from Congressmen Tony Wied, Tom Tiffany, and Bryan Steil's offices. The "Capitol Brew Crew"  is off to a great start!
