Johnson Applauds President Trump and Ambassador Haley’s Defense of the Decision to Recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) today issued the following statement commending President Trump and United Nations’ Ambassador Nicki Haley for vetoing a U.N. Security Council resolution condemning the United States’ recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital:

“In recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, President Trump simply allowed a law that was passed with bipartisan support in 1995 to take effect,” said Sen. Johnson. “Delaying the implementation has obviously not spurred good faith negotiations.  Perhaps this will positively help change the dynamic. Unfortunately, U.N. attempts to dictate American foreign policy are far too common, and I commend Ambassador Haley for defending President Trump’s correct decision to move our embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.”
